Swinden Limeworks

Swinden Limeworks is still in use today, and is the terminus of the former Yorkshire Dales Railway that continued on to Grassington & Threshfield.

BR Standard Class 4 75014 (or 19 - not clear from the picture, but thought to be the former) leaves Swinden Limeworks (visible in the background) for Embsay Junction, sometime shortly before the end of BR steam. The Grassington branch was amongst the last lines worked solely by steam, and attracted enthusiasts in its latter days from all over the place.
