Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway

Hambleton Valley Miniature Railway

(c) William Lister The Hambleton Valley Miniature Railway will operate on most days when trains are running on the main railway (see the timetable for details). It is a 7 1/4" gauge railway, located around the edge of the lawn at Bolton Abbey station, and approximately 60 yards long. Already it includes a station and an engine shed, with further work planned.

Andy Lister is seen hard at work (and not escaping the photos this time!) on the roof of the engine shed, which is built in the same style as the rest of Bolton Abbey station so as to fit in. The entire trackbed can be seen in the middle photo as it curves round the lawn to terminate alongside Wheldale (behind the hanging basket) in the Duke's Siding bay.

The terminus of the line is 'Hambleton Hollow' which is located alongside the bay platform where Wheldale is on display. During the Summer the floral surroundings make for an attractive view.

(c) William Lister The Railway's own 'Toby' with a couple of 'enthusiastic' members bellowing! A second loco to a similar design has recently been bought, and can be seen to the right.
